How to get someone's TikTok banned: the account, the Shop seller and the Duet are three different jobs

To get someone's TikTok banned, first name what you are pointing at. A creator account is banned by TikTok after one severe violation or repeated strikes. A TikTok Shop seller loses the shop when its health score runs out. A Duet of your video you can delete yourself. Report count decides none of them.

How to get someone's TikTok banned: creator account, TikTok Shop seller and Duet compared by report route and outcome

Requests to ban someone on TikTok reach us in three shapes. A buyer whose order arrived as a knock-off wants the seller gone. A creator whose video was dueted by a stranger who mocks it frame by frame wants that Duet gone. And somebody pastes a username and asks, sometimes in exactly these words, how to banned someone on TikTok.

Same verb, three separate machines inside TikTok.

The creator account answers to the Community Guidelines and TikTok's strike system. The seller answers to TikTok Shop, which scores every shop and can close it without touching the person's videos. The Duet is a video on someone else's profile that you, as the original creator, have more control over than you might think. Most failed reports we see went to the wrong machine, so this page takes each one in turn and finishes with the part nobody explains: how you can tell whether anything happened.

Which one are you trying to get banned: an account, a seller or a Duet?

Decide by where the harm lives. Harm in videos, comments, messages or LIVEs makes the account the target. Products, orders and shop pages point to the seller. One split-screen video built on yours is a Duet problem, and the fastest fix there may not be a report at all.

TargetWhere you report itRules it is judged byWhat a ban looks like
Creator accountThe video, comment or profile: ReportCommunity GuidelinesStrikes, feature limits, then a permanent ban
TikTok Shop sellerThe product page: three dots, ReportTikTok Shop policies, plus the Guidelines for videosLost points, listing freezes, then deactivation
Shoppable video or Shop LIVETap and hold the video or stream: ReportBoth rule booksThe video or LIVE removed, points or strikes behind it
A Duet of your videoThe Duet video: Report, or delete it from your postCommunity GuidelinesThe Duet removed; future Duets switched off by you

Plenty of cases need two rows. A seller who also runs a creator account and posts fake reviews of their own product can be reported in both places, and the two decisions are made by different teams.

How to get someone's TikTok banned when the account is the problem

Report the specific content that breaks a rule, under the rule it breaks, and let the strike system do the rest. TikTok's Help Center page on content violations and bans describes the sequence: the first removal usually brings a warning strike, every later violation adds a strike, and strikes are counted by policy area or by feature, so an account can lose comments or direct messages before it loses everything. The owner is warned when the account is "on the verge of being banned".

That is the whole answer to how to get someones tiktok banned, apostrophe or not: point a reviewer at violations they can confirm, one at a time. A single video report puts that exact clip in front of the reviewer, which is why reporting one TikTok video usually does more than a vague profile report, and reporting an account or a video sets out when the profile report is the right call. Picking the reason matters more than people expect; choosing the report reason goes through the categories. A report asks for review. It is not a vote, and what report counts really do shows why a hundred copies of a weak report change nothing.

What gets someone permanently banned on TikTok?

A short list, and TikTok publishes it. The same Help Center page says it may permanently ban an account that:

  • doesn't meet the minimum age in TikTok's terms;
  • impersonates another person or organisation in a deceptive way;
  • posts or facilitates child sexual abuse material or youth exploitation, promotes or threatens violence, depicts non-consensual sex acts or real-world torture, or facilitates human trafficking;
  • was opened to get around a restriction or ban on another account;
  • reaches the strike threshold within a policy or feature;
  • breaks the Intellectual Property Policy repeatedly, or exists only to break the rules.

Strikes expire after 90 days, so a slow trickle of minor breaches can keep an account alive indefinitely, while one video in the severe group can end it on the first strike. Deleting a video does not delete its strike. If you want to get someone permanently banned on TikTok, the honest route is to find the violation on that list and document it. Impersonation is the item people most often have evidence for, and it has its own identity-checked form: reporting a fake account that copies you walks through who may file it, and reporting an impersonator covers ban evasion by the same person. When the in-app report closes with no action and you still hold clear evidence, escalating a TikTok report covers the web forms.

How do you report a TikTok Shop seller or product?

From the product itself. TikTok Shop's own post on reporting, published 15 November 2024 on its seller blog, gives these steps for a product:

  1. Tap the product to open its page.
  2. Tap the three dots.
  3. Tap Report, then choose the issue from the options offered.
  4. Tap Submit.

That post lists no separate button for a whole shop, so to report a TikTok Shop as a business, report its worst listings one by one and then raise the pattern with customer support, which files it against the seller rather than a single item. People searching how to report a TikTok shop seller often skip the product step and go straight to support. Do the product reports first. They attach the evidence to the listing that broke the rule, and that listing is what TikTok Shop enforcement acts on. Most bad listings never reach a buyer at all: TikTok says 99.5% of violating listings are detected before they reach customers, as Modern Retail reported on 11 November 2025, so the ones you meet are the ones its filters missed, and your report is how they get found.

Counterfeits are the exception. If the goods fake a brand you own or represent, file through TikTok Shop's IP Protection Center instead.

Rights owners and their authorised agents register their trademarks or copyrights there, then file and track complaints against Shop products, videos and LIVEs. A buyer who is not the brand owner cannot, but can still report the product. Copied videos rather than copied goods go through the ordinary copyright form, as reporting stolen content on TikTok explains.

How to report a vid on TikTok Shop, or a Shop LIVE

Tap and hold it. The same TikTok Shop post says to tap the video or livestream, press and hold until Report appears, choose the issue and submit. When the video is fine but the product pinned inside it is not, open the product from the video and use its three dots instead, so the report lands on the listing. A LIVE has to be reported while it is running, because once the broadcast ends there is nothing left for a reviewer to watch.

What happens to a seller after reports land?

They lose points, not strikes. TikTok Shop's US Account Health Rating, effective 29 June 2026, scores each shop from 0 to 1,000 over the last 180 days, and every seller starts on 200. Points go for prohibited or unsafe products, counterfeits and other intellectual property breaches, fraudulent orders, late dispatch and negative customer reviews. At 150 points the seller cannot create listings or join new mega campaigns for 7 days; at 100, for 14 days; at 50, for 28 days. At zero, the policy says the account "may be permanently deactivated".

TikTok Shop seller Account Health Rating: 200-point start, listing freezes at 150, 100 and 50 points, deactivation at zero

The UK version uses the same 200-point start and a 180-day window, and its seller performance policy lists what else TikTok Shop can do: delist products, withhold balances, suspend "access to TikTok Shop", or end the seller agreement. None of that is a Community Guidelines ban. A seller can be thrown off TikTok Shop and still post videos, and the reverse holds too. The scale is real, though. TikTok's Shop safety report for January to June 2025, as summarised by Social Media Today, counted more than 700,000 sellers removed, more than 1.4 million seller applications turned away at the door and more than 70 million listings rejected before going live. Sellers can appeal from Seller Center, under Shop Health and then Violation Records, and TikTok Shop says the review takes three business days.

Is there a TikTok Shop phone number for reports?

No. TikTok Shop publishes no phone line for reporting a seller, and a number that turns up in search results claiming to be one should be treated as a trap. Its customer support post of 6 May 2026 gives shoppers one route: in the TikTok Shop app, scroll the row under the search bar (Orders, Messages, Favorites, Offers) to Help, describe the issue, pick it from the list and tap Contact us. Sellers log in to Seller Center to reach live agents, or use a web form if they are locked out.

The 2024 reporting post adds the warning that settles it: TikTok Shop customer service "won't make unrequested phone calls without prior notification", and anyone who gets such a call should hang up and contact TikTok Shop directly. Anyone typing report tiktok shop phone number into a search bar is exactly who a fake support line is built for. Never read out a card number, a one-time code or bank details to a caller.

Real phone lines do exist outside TikTok. In the UK, the Citizens Advice consumer service takes calls on 0808 223 1133 and passes complaints about rogue traders to Trading Standards. In the US, a seller who took money for goods that never existed can be reported to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. Neither will remove a listing, but both build cases against repeat offenders. Buyers in the EU have one more lever, and more of them have it now: TikTok's seventh DSA transparency report, published 31 August 2026, says TikTok Shop launched in eight more member states on 15 June 2026, Poland and the Netherlands among them. There, a shoppable video or LIVE selling something unlawful can be flagged through Report illegal content, and under the Digital Services Act TikTok has to tell you what it decided and let you appeal. For your own money, the refund route runs on a deadline: under TikTok Shop's US returns policy, effective 22 September 2026, you have 30 calendar days from Delivered to request a return, and the Money-Back Guarantee covers damaged, defective or not-as-described items for up to 90 days.

Reporting a TikTok duet, and switching Duet off for the next one

Open the Duet itself, not your original, and report it. TikTok's Help Center page on Duets says a Duet "will only appear on the profile of the person who recorded the Duet", so that is where the report button that reaches it sits. The original creator has two quicker tools on top of that. You can delete Duet videos associated with your post, and you can decide who gets to Duet you in the first place.

  1. Delete the Duet from your post if you want it detached from your video now; report it as well if it breaks a guideline.
  2. Turn Duet off for that single post, so the same person cannot simply record another.
  3. Set the account-wide Duet permission in your privacy settings to Everyone, to Friends (followers you follow back), or off.

Duet only works on public accounts, so switching your account to private shuts it off completely. The Help Center also points to an online form for a Duet that violates your privacy rights. That covers footage of you filmed without consent or personal details shown on screen, where the in-app categories fit badly. A Duet that exists to mock or pile on to one person is a harassment case, and reporting TikTok harassment covers how those reports are judged. For a Duet recorded inside a LIVE or a Story, the TikTok takedown notice guide has the routes.

How can you know if someone got banned on TikTok?

You mostly can't, from the outside, and TikTok designs it that way. The ban notice goes to the account owner, not to you: the Help Center says a banned owner gets "a banner notification" when they try to log in. They can still log in to appeal and download their data until TikTok deletes it under its retention rules, after which the account "will no longer be available".

How to know if someone got banned on TikTok: what a missing profile, a rename and Report records each prove
What you seeWhat it can meanProves a ban?
"Couldn't find this account" on their profile linkBanned, deleted by the owner, deactivated, renamed, or blocking youNo
The same videos under a new @nameA username changeNo, the account is alive
Reported videos gone, profile still upContent removed and strikes addedNo, but the report worked
A result in your Report recordsTikTok reviewed your reportIt is the only first-party answer you get

Report records live under Settings and privacy, then Support, then Safety Center. They show what happened to your report, not a full account history. To test the "blocking you" explanation, open the public profile link in a signed-out browser; a profile that loads there still exists, so a block is the likelier reason you can't see it. The person you reported is told which rule their content broke and never who reported it.

A vanished profile also isn't always TikTok's doing. The owner may have deleted the account, which on TikTok means a 30-day deactivation first, as deleting a TikTok account explains; and nobody else can delete it for them, which is the subject of deleting someone else's TikTok account.

When we went through TikTok's help pages for this guide on 23 September 2026, we found that the one line a reporter would most like to read, "this account was banned", appears nowhere in TikTok's documentation as something the public sees. The notice is written for the owner at login. Every site offering to confirm a ban from the outside is guessing from the same "Couldn't find this account" screen you can see yourself.

What TikTok Ban Service checks before anything is filed

Which machine, first. Is the harm in an account's content, in a shop's listings, or in one Duet? Then which rule: a guideline for the account, a Shop policy for the seller, intellectual property law for a counterfeit. We send buyers with a refund still possible to the return route before any report, because that clock is the one that expires. And we turn down requests to get a TikTok user banned for an opinion, a rivalry or a bad review, since reports against a lawful account break TikTok's own rules on false reporting and leave the target exactly where it was.

You will not find a shortcut behind the report button. Tools that promise one sell volume, which TikTok ignores, as a line-by-line look at a mass-report tool shows, and what money can honestly buy is set out in what a removal fee pays for. If something is causing harm today, getting a TikTok taken down quickly separates what you can remove yourself from what only TikTok can. Report the product, the video or the Duet itself, under the rule it breaks, and keep the screenshots. If that has not moved it, send us the link and we will tell you which route fits before anything is filed.

FAQ

Can a seller lose their TikTok Shop and keep their TikTok account?

Yes. TikTok Shop runs its own enforcement, and the UK policy speaks of suspending listing privileges or access to TikTok Shop, which is a narrower penalty than a Community Guidelines ban. A seller who also posts rule-breaking videos can lose both, but through two separate decisions.

How long does a TikTok Shop seller appeal take?

Three business days, according to TikTok Shop's customer support post of 6 May 2026, and the seller files it in Seller Center under Shop Health, then Violation Records, then View and Appeal. A product you reported can therefore come back within the week if the appeal succeeds.

Should I report a TikTok Shop seller or ask for a refund first?

Do both, in that order of urgency: the refund has a clock on it. In the US, a return request is due within 30 calendar days of the package showing Delivered, and the Money-Back Guarantee covers damaged, defective or not-as-described items for up to 90 days. The report protects the next buyer; the return protects you.

Is it against the rules to Duet someone's video without asking?

No, if the creator left Duet switched on, because that setting is the permission. What the Duet says is a separate question: a Duet that harasses the original creator, exposes private information or breaks another guideline can be reported like any other video, and the creator can also delete it from their post.

Do TikTok strikes ever disappear?

Yes. TikTok's Help Center says strikes expire after 90 days and then stop counting toward a permanent ban. Deleting the offending video does not remove its strike, so an account cannot clean its record that way, and a successful appeal is the only way to erase a strike early.

Someone called me saying they are TikTok Shop support. Is it real?

Treat it as a scam: TikTok Shop says its customer service will not make unrequested phone calls without prior notification, and it tells shoppers to hang up and contact TikTok Shop through the app. Never read out a card number, a login code or bank details to a caller.

Will the person I report find out it was me?

Not from a Community Guidelines report. TikTok tells the account owner which rule a removal broke and never includes who reported it. Intellectual property complaints work differently, because the rights owner files under their own name, so a counterfeit complaint through the IP Protection Center is not anonymous.
